Rail Safety Manager
Health & Safety, Well-being

Can you influence the safety culture in a constantly evolving operational environment? Can you help us shape the future of operational safety in the Greater Manager transport area?

TfGM oversees transport in Greater Manchester, delivering and improving transport services, facilities and information to make travel easier for everyone. We deliver high-profile, large-scale transport projects, and it’s our experts who provide the information and analysis to shape transport strategy. This is a busy and exciting time for us: under the devolution agreement and with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, transport will play a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London.

Reporting to the Interim Head of Control and Operational Support and working closely with the Heads of Rail and Metrolink, you will provide strategic support and advice to the Metrolink and Rail teams on health and safety matters relating to rail activities and will lead the delivery and implementation of processes to ensure compliance with the TfGM Safety Management System.

You will have safety experience in both rail and tram industries and particularly the implementation of ROGS. You will be determined to develop and constantly improve the safety culture within our organisation ensuring suppliers are of the same mind. You will possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and be able to influence a range of audiences. You will be a qualified member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health or working towards this and will have worked extensively in the heavy and light rail environment.

If you believe you have the skills and experience required, we’d really like to hear from you. When completing your application, please ensure that you provide clear examples against the essential criteria.
